Biography
My name is Donald Legere, and I’m running as the People’s Party of Canada candidate for Calgary Shepard in the next federal election. I’m not a career politician—far from it. I’m a retired resident of Calgary a vibrant, diverse community, someone who never imagined stepping into the political arena. But like many of you, I’ve watched with growing concern as government overreach, economic mismanagement, and policies that undermine our way of life have taken hold. I couldn’t stay silent any longer. That’s why I’m running: to give voice to the frustrations and aspirations of everyday Canadians who want a government that serves them, not controls them.
Calgary is my home, and its people—hardworking, entrepreneurial, and culturally diverse—are its strength. I’ve seen how federal policies, like Bills C-69 and C-48, strangle our energy sector, costing jobs and driving up costs for families already struggling with affordability. As a PPC candidate, I’m committed to fighting for a strong energy industry that powers our economy and secures our future. I believe in reducing red tape, lowering taxes, and letting small businesses thrive, because they’re the backbone of our community.
Individual freedom is at the core of my campaign. Whether it’s defending free speech against censorship or protecting your right to make decisions for your family, I’ll stand up to policies that erode our liberties. I’m also passionate about fostering unity in Calgary Shepard’s diverse neighborhoods. Our differences—cultural, religious, or otherwise—can be a source of strength if we focus on shared values like mutual respect and economic opportunity. I support community-driven solutions, to build cohesion without top-down mandates.
My involvement with the PPC stems from their grassroots approach and unflinching commitment to principles I hold dear: limited government, personal responsibility, and a Canada-first mindset. I’m skeptical of globalist agendas that prioritize international commitments over local needs, and I believe the PPC offers a clear alternative to parties like the CPC, which sometimes lean too heavily on those frameworks.
Beyond policy, I’m just a regular guy who values privacy, enjoys a good debate (preferably over pizza), and believes in getting things done. I’ve spent years observing how decisions in Ottawa ripple through communities like ours—higher costs, fewer jobs, less freedom. My experience as a concerned citizen, not a political insider, gives me a fresh perspective. I’m here to ask the tough questions, like “Whose government is this, after all?” and to demand answers that put Canadians first.
If elected, I’ll work tirelessly to deliver economic prosperity, protect our freedoms, and ensure Calgary Shepard’s voice is heard. I’m inspired by the PPC’s vision to restore a Canada where individuals thrive, businesses flourish, and communities unite. Join me in this fight—because together, we can take back our country.

Reason for running
I never planned to run for office. But as I watched government overreach erode our freedoms and policies like Bills C-69 and C-48 cripple Alberta’s energy sector, I couldn’t stay silent. I’m running with the People’s Party of Canada because I believe in a Canada where individuals thrive, not just survive. My reasons are personal: I want my community—our diverse, hardworking district—to prosper, not struggle under high costs and stifling regulations.
I’m driven by a sense of duty to protect free speech, personal choice, and economic opportunity. Seeing families priced out of homes and businesses crushed by red tape hits close to home. I value privacy and reject globalist agendas that prioritize foreign interests over local needs. Calgary Shepard’s strength lies in its people, and I want to foster unity through shared values like respect and resilience, not top-down mandates.
The PPC’s grassroots movement resonates with me—it’s about real people, not political elites. I’m no insider; I’m just a guy who enjoys a good debate (pizza optional) and asks, “Whose government is this?” I’m running to demand answers, restore accountability, and ensure our voices are heard. If elected, I’ll fight for lower taxes, a vibrant energy industry, and a future where Calgary Shepard leads the way. This isn’t about power—it’s about taking back our country for our kids and grandkids. Join me.
