"My name is Joseph Markham, I am 29 years old and I have lived and worked in Windsor my entire life. I was an auto-worker for a little more than 4 years, worked in healthcare for more than 5 years and I am currently a local Registered Nurse."
Joseph has long been an ardent advocate for the homeless and for low-income, public, and affordable housing, as well as a long-time advocate for full, universal public healthcare, mental health and addictions. Joseph has proudly been involved in his local unions and the Labour Movement and involved in the Peace and Anti-War movements for several years. Joseph has been present on picket lines, standing in solidarity with many workers on strike, including at Nemak, Jamieson, Greenshield, LCBO, the Education Workers Strike, the PSAC Strike, Windsor Salt and others.
Joseph has been active in his community, including assisting Friends of Adie Knox with leafleting about the closure of a public benefit despite residents and users opposition, in advocating for affordable housing and those facing homelessness, with advocating for and defending SafePoint CTS “Safe Consumption Site”, and standing with the solidarity movement with Palestine and advocating for an end to the war, apartheid and genocide, and in defence of the 2SLGBTQI+ Community.
