Donovan Cavers, the BC Greens Candidate for Kootenay-Monashee, grew up on a third-generation farm on unceded Secwepemc territory near Chase, BC. This upbringing cultivated a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for the natural world. As an entrepreneur, Donovan founded and operated Conscientious Catering for 12 years, earning several business awards before transitioning to his current role as an elementary school teacher. Donovan loves teaching and is particularly passionate about emotional literacy, nurturing creativity, building intrinsic motivation in students, and Indigenous reconciliation and language revitalization.
In addition to his career in education, Donovan has an extensive background in public service. From 2011 to 2018, he served as a City Councillor in Kamloops, where he was actively involved with the Southern Interior Local Government Association (SILGA), the Transportation Committee, the Fraser Basin Council, and the Social Planning Council. His experience in local government has provided him with a solid foundation for addressing regional issues effectively.
Donovan is passionate about finding solutions to the challenges facing communities in Kootenay-Monashee, including affordable housing, environmental stewardship, and sustainable economic development. He is eager to engage with residents across the region and collaborate with fellow BC Green candidates to address these priorities.
