Biography
A true BC-er, Dana-Lyn Mackenzie loves her province and the coastal area. Dana-Lyn, the BC Greens Candidate for Vancouver-Yaletown, is a dedicated advocate and lawyer who brings a wealth of experience from both her professional and community roles. As a member of the Hwlitsum First Nation, Dana-Lyn serves as an elected councilor of her Coast Salish nation, where she has worked since 2021. Her legal career spans criminal, administrative, and employment law, with her current position as an Associate at Acumen Law. She is also a Senior Manager at UBC, leading equity, diversity, and Indigeneity initiatives across three faculties.
Throughout her career, Dana-Lyn has been committed to promoting Indigenous awareness and supporting marginalized communities. She has contributed significantly to UBC’s Indigenous Strategic Plan and served as a speaker on Indigenous research and equity issues. Recognized for her work in advancing diversity, she earned UBC’s President’s Staff Award for Advancing Diversity and Inclusion in 2016, and for Advancing Anti- Racism and Inclusive Excellence in 2024.
Outside of her legal and academic work, Dana-Lyn is an active board member of RESEAU-CMI, where she helps bring clean water to remote Indigenous communities. Her leadership and experience make her a strong voice for justice, sustainability, and community welfare in Vancouver-Yaletown.
Dana-Lyn is running for the BC Green Party to fight for Indigenous rights, social justice, and environmental protection. Electing her means bringing a fresh, inclusive perspective to the legislature, one rooted in community service and a commitment to sustainable growth for all British Columbians.
