Biography
Dr. Chris Hergesheimer (he/him) holds a B.A in Cultural Anthropology, an MA in Sociology from Simon Fraser University and a PhD from the University of British Columbia and is currently a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at Royal Roads University.
He currently works as the Lead Food Programmer at Sunshine Coast Community Services Society, building food access projects and advocating for a dignified and innovative approach to food– and advocates for the right to food and income security, community inclusion, and social justice.
With over a decade in academia as a sociologist and a decade working for local not-for-profit agencies, Chris has a unique vantage point on the challenges and opportunities facing his region. Based in xwilkway (Halfmoon Bay) Chris believes in a stable and sustainable future and has the relationships, experiences and evidence to champion this vision in Victoria.
